The more classes your child can attend per week, the faster he or she will learn.  This is why I recommend at least 2-3 lessons per week.  During the time between swim classes a child can forget a lot of what they have learned, and attending lessons twice or more per week will experience an exponential increase in their rate of progress.

1. A Towel (one per participant)

2. Sunscreen (Sun Protection)

3. Water (Hydration & Yes you do sweat in water)

4. Water Diaper (if needed)

5. Rash guard (for the little ones to preserve heat and sun protection)

6. Water safe toys that you know your child loves is always recommended if your child is hesitant or nervous for their first lesson! (I provide a wide variety of toy options for them to play with during our lesson)

7. Goggles (For eye protection and underwater exploration) I have extras you or your child may use during our lesson incase you don't have any or can't afford them!

Learning to swim is more than just physically learning how to swim. Swimming may be scary and new for a lot of children and adults to navigate emotionally. Crying before, during or after swim lessons is common, however I do my best to redirect their attention to easier skills that allow them to be calm, and confident in the water allowing for a positive experience. I do not force or push skills that they are not mentally or physically ready for, this hinders learning and could cause negative associations with the water.

If the child is unconsolable, or needs some extra support, I will ask a parent or guardian get in the water with me to aid in their learning process. Everyone is different, so me and the parent will work together to what is best for them in that moment.

I want to make sure the child is feeling safe and comfortable when he/she is learning how to swim. For children 6m-3yr a parent is recommended to be in the water, however if the child is comfortable, being independent is ideal.  For 3yr+ is when I focus on skills-based instruction with an emphasis on personal safety, so it is highly recommended to let your child learn and discover independently. You can watch from the pool deck!

Please Note: I am trained to teach children/adults  of all levels of physical and cognitive levels, if you have any accommodations, I will always adapt to set up my swimmers up for success.

We require a 24-hour notice for all non-emergency cancellations. If you cancel in less than 24 hours, you will be charged for the lesson. Visit the "Anasia Swim Policies" PDF above for more detailed policies and procedures.
